FREE emergency service for hospitals in the Severn region

Duty coordinator tel : 07005 968687

The Procedure

Non-urgent calls for the day are generally expected by about 8.00pm in the evening (although we will pick up calls at any time). This gives the dispatcher time to arrange a suitable route between hospitals.

On picking up an item the initiating hospital will sign a form. They keep a copy, the rider keeps a copy and a copy is delivered along with the items to the destination.

The service we provide is available free of charge to all NHS establishments in the Severn region.

Service times:

Weekdays 7pm-7am

Weekends 24hrs

We will carry anything of medical necessity such as blood, blood products, samples, X rays, patient notes.

Classes of service:

1. Non urgent

These items will generally be delivered by 7am the following morning.

2. Urgent

These items will be delivered as soon as a bike becomes free.

3. Emergency

This is reserved for items where blue lights are necessary. This will generally be for situations where life is at stake.

The decision about class of service is entirely the choice of the hospital and will need to be stated clearly on the initial contact.
